Our people

FaithBuilders is the children's department of Renewal Christian Centre. Justyn Towler, runs FaithBuilders supported by a group of committed volunteers. We have all been police checked and trained on Child Protection. Our leaders come under supervision of the Church leadership and receive regular training to support what they do.

You can spot our leaders easily - they are the good looking ones wearing FaithBuilders t-shirts and hoodies! Our volunteers work for two Sundays out of every four, so your child will get to know both teams as they spend time with us.

Justyn Towler

Pastor of Children and Community

Justyn Towler is our Children’s pastor. He works at the church to oversee the activities and sessions we run for children and families. FaithBuilders, Wow Time and Tiny Time are the three key areas that Justyn is responsible for.

  1. FaithBuilders is our action packed children’s sessions ran on Sundays in three locations.
  2. WOW Time is a Saturday club that runs for 6-weeks in schools and community centres in the local area. Children can earn a WOW Time cap and badge and learn something new!
  3. Tiny Time runs different sessions during the week for little ones and their grown ups.

Justyn works in partnership with Solihull Council to support the children’s centre at Renewal.

He brings with him a variety of experience – everything from work as an actor, to his role at Birmingham Council in Children’s services department. He is married to Liz who is a secondary school teacher.

Justyn and his wife Liz are supported by James and Kathryn Moffat. The two couples make up the FaithBuilders leadership team.

Our programmes

Children take part in a range of age appropriate activities. Some are free play, others directed - all designed to explore a verse from the Bible. Each morning we discover one Bible truth, we call this our 'Wow Moment' and we encourage the children to learn a 'Doing Verse' - a Bible verse that helps us make great choices and live our lives as God intended throughout the week.

We also have members of the team who are experienced in equipping and training people for the most important job ever, being a parent! Ask one of the FaithBuilders leaders or contact us if you fancy a chat with a parent support worker.

See you soon...?

We hope you enjoy looking through the website, but nothing beats coming down and seeing us in action. You'll be very welcome to take a sneak peek at what goes on. If you have any questions, contact us or give us a ring in the church office 0121 705 0910.

We look forward to seeing you!

Getting the most out of FaithBuilders

Our teaching

At FaithBuilders, we want the children to experience the Christian faith and Jesus in such a way that it challenges them to live a life that is different. Each session we run has a Wow Moment – a simple yet amazing Bible truth. Following this we have a Doing Verse, a scripture that confirms the Wow Moment but challenges us to respond by doing something.

Perhaps in the car on the way home, or before your child goes to bed that night, you could ask them what the Wow Moment and Doing Verse was that day. Maybe you could then use them in your prayers with your child.

We produce teaching packs each quarter for our teams to work from – if you would like a copy to find out more about what we are teaching, just let us know.

Attending FaithBuilders

A leader will welcome you when you come and help register your child. We’ll then show you to find the right room.

A full FaithBuilders programme runs in three locations on Sundays – find out where here. However, it will be easier for your child to meet the same friends if you always come to the same time service at the same place each week. We know for some families it’s impossible to attend every Sunday, but if when you do come you aim to attend the same service then your child will have a better chance of building friendships.

If your child is nervous about attending, have a look at our ‘What if my child is unsure about attending FaithBuilders?’ leaflet. Contact us or ask a leader on a Sunday to discuss it with you. We can then come up with a joint plan to settle your child into FaithBuilders.

It’s good to give

Each week we take an offering during the Sunday service. This will be during Wow Time. Any children that have brought money will have the opportunity to put it in the jar.

If you would like your child to take part, you could give them a coin to bring each week. Our focus is helping children learn about the principle of giving and not about how large the gift – there is no expectation of amount.

Gem Jars

To encourage positive behaviour we have a reward and discipline system in FaithBuilders. Responsibility for disciplining a child lies within each family home, but we have a process in place to ensure that all children feel happy, safe and secure. You could ask your child if they earned any Gems whilst with us – it’s a great achievement when they do and is well worth celebrating!

Each term, children have the opportunity to work with their group to fill the gem jar and earn a special reward morning treat.

We hope that your children have a wonderful time in FaithBuilders. If you do have a question, however small, don’t hesitate to contact us or ask a leader on a Sunday.
